How to compare home cleaning quotes
Compare cleaning proposals by rooms, tasks, exclusions, and visit arrangements so that each quote describes the same job.
Create a room-by-room task list
List the rooms and the work you want done in each one. Separate routine surface cleaning from tasks such as inside cabinets, inside an oven, or interior windows. Note which spaces are not included.
Describe the property's current condition accurately. Mention pets, heavy clutter, delicate finishes, and areas that require particular care. Avoid sending personal documents or unnecessary photographs of private belongings.
Clarify supplies and exclusions
Ask who supplies equipment and products. Identify any surfaces with manufacturer care instructions and share those instructions with the cleaner. Discuss product preferences before the appointment rather than assuming every product is suitable for every surface.
Request a list of excluded tasks. Check whether the proposal is for a fixed task list, a set number of hours, or a recurring visit, and how unfinished tasks are handled.
Agree on access and completion
Arrange how the cleaner will enter and leave the property. Discuss where pets will be during the visit and how areas that must remain private will be identified.
Ask how to raise a concern after the visit and whether any follow-up is included. For recurring work, confirm the frequency, cancellation arrangements, and how either party can request changes to the task list.
